Whatever happened to Origami…. errrrr, the Courier

Microsoft is an ultra innovative powerhouse that when they are not creating the next big thing is because they must be tweaking its famous Clippy, so it’s natural that companies like Microsoft every so often come out with nice ideas, the Origami was their greatest and as We all expected it changed they way we interacted with mobile devices, folding a powerful desktop system into a ultra small and lightweight mobile device is a work of art. The only problem with the Origami was that it wasn’t created to be a real product or strategy that work for a long time, it was launched to defuse...

Thanks Apple for the approval of Opera Mini

Opera has its mobile application approved for the iPhone and while I don’t use Opera for Mac in a regular basis it is still a moment of happiness for everybody, Opera has been working hard to make its browser available to iphone users. I was hoping to have the Opera Mini browser on my iPhone, because it only help the platform grow or mature and it won’t ever represent a threat to Safari for mac users, because what Apple really likes is a better iPhone experience and Opera Mini is in line with that requirement, so if Safari and now Opera Mini is your favorite in the end it’s all...

The Newton brand is not dead yet

PatentlyApple.com is reporting a trademark renovation for the Apple Newton Logo, while it doesn’t imply by itself that Apple may remotely launching or creating any device around it, it may in fact signify more than that or all of them together. The Newton was a device out of its time, it created the base for the Palm Pilot and other smaller PDAs, but didn’t have the full support from Apple itself, it was a pet project in the hand of the wrong person. My Newton still works, it is a piece of technology that resist to die, it may be bulky but it’s durable and does what it was supposed...

Microsoft Stores… where art thou?

It’s been a while since Microsoft launched its flagship stores to enhance Microsoft Windows and other product experience, providing direct information to buyers (a la Apple Store) but We haven’t heard any good or even bad history, nobody has created an inside video clip that show us how the stores are doing, does it have a bunch of Windows Fanbois or nerds in line to get the hottest keyboard or Xbox games. What is happening? Too much news is not good but not news is even worse. Microsoft evangelista for the Microsoft Stores isn’t doing his or her job… Or Am I wrong?

Microsoft validates Apple lawsuits in Windows Phone 7 ad… Ironically

When Microsoft demoed Windows Phone 7 last month one of the most balked thing about it was a short video called “Windows Phone 7 Series: Life In Motion” that ridiculed the iPhone and how the industry has ended up being a sea of sameness refering that everybody is copying it, strange, but this validates Apple’s lawsuit because in an open way Microsoft is just saying that Apple is being ripped off by mobile phone manufacturers that without any creativity and dedication decided to mimick the iPhone. Sorry HTC, Microsoft talks too much.

Apple Vs HTC: Stop believing patents are bullshit… There is real money and time invested

Apple got its act together and served HTC with a lawsuit claiming infringement on 20 patents, something that this will force HTC and partners to dedicate an enormous ammount of precious time checking all of them. This move could be seen as the start of the new mobile war between rivals, HTC is the maker of the Nexus One and other Windows Mobile phones, this only could mean that Google will thrown into this legal fight in one way or another and a stronge Stay Away message to Microsoft if it insists in defending HTC. Google isn’t named in the lawsuit and is wise to notice that there was (rumored)...

It’s time for Apple to enter the TV Market

Apple is soooooo slow when it comes to extend its technology beyond Macs, iPods and iPhones that it really make me angry, I know for sure that a venture into TV market will be a win-win for Apple and the end user, but they are trapped into believing that there’s not life outside the actual ecosystem. The Apple HDTV I would like to have will require Apple to invest (I am being totally reiterative with this) in a HDTV manufacturer or add TV tuners inside the Apple Display line to create an attractive and lucrative business, but at the same time it will be necessary to transform the iPhone...

Me, Myself and the iPad

I am more than ready to buy the iPad, I am done, this is what I’ve been asking for, a tablet easy to use, cheap, but elegant, that lets me surf the net while enjoy television with the family, I am infomaniac, so every time something interesting happens on the tv I jump to the net to learn more of that specific topic and the iPad will help me do that a lot faster. Now the problem, I would like to have a Read or Learn More label attached to every Discovery or NatGeo program in order to point my their net address and get any related information instantly, but it can be even better, every TV...

iPhone OS to power other devices… luxury cars?

A job posting in Apple’s website hints about the strange possibility to have the iPhone OS running in other devices, but if We look to what devices can benefit from the iPhone OS there isn’t too many options. Apple can create an iPhone-based infotainment dashboard for luxury cars that brings all kind of media (video, audio, movies, books), location-based information, weather, parking, GPS navigation and more, all the map and location information can be supplied by Placebase, a mapping company recently bought by Apple. I have been hearing rumors about Apple and Volkswagen collaboration...
